Torcicoda is a wine crafted by Tormaresca, using Primitivo grapes sourced from vines cultivated as both saplings and spurred cordons at the Tenuta Maìme di S. Pietro Vernotico. The grapes were harvested slightly overripe during the initial week of September. Following the gentle crushing, a maceration process was employed, managed through soft pumping over and delèstage techniques, which lasted for 15 days within stainless steel tanks. Throughout this phase, the wines underwent alcoholic fermentation at a controlled temperature, not exceeding 26°C. Following vinification, the wine underwent malolactic fermentation directly within French and Hungarian oak barrels, where it matured for approximately 10 months. Subsequently, the wine further aged in the bottle for 8 months before being released to the market.
Exhibiting a deep ruby-red color, Torcicoda enchants with its fruity bouquet of plum, blackberry, and raspberry, beautifully entwined with spicy notes of pepper, coffee, and cocoa. On the palate, it unveils a soft, luscious, pleasant, and refined flavor of noteworthy intensity and lingering presence. To fully appreciate its qualities, serve Torcicoda at a temperature of 18-20°C.
