Grillo Mozia 2009 wine is made from the Grillo grape variety grown in a vineyard located on the island of Mozia. This wine is a result of collaboration between two families, Tasca d'Almerita and Whitaker. Under the guidance of Tasca d'Almerita, the historical vineyards on the island of Mozia were revived. This small island, situated a few kilometers off the coast of Marsala, possesses a unique ecosystem. Recognizing the island's potential, Count Tasca planted 7 hectares of unirrigated vineyards here, which are under organic management.
The harvest for the production of Grillo Mozia wine takes place in the early morning hours, with the grapes carefully collected in small wooden crates and promptly transported to the winery. Fermentation occurs in stainless steel tanks and lasts for 15 days. Afterward, the wine is aged on lees for 5 months in steel tanks.
